WOKE

For Republicans: Liberal political correctness. For Democrats: I don’t know what that is.

Woke is being used by the right as everything that is wrong with America, the government the founders warned against. Woke, a Trumpite, Foxnewser told me, is the unions trying to sell LGTBQ issues to the American people.

Woke, says Google, I’m summarizing, is Black English for an awareness of racism and injustice and inequality in America, circa the 1920s, and Jim Crow. Woke, historically, is an aspect of this consciousness among some Black people.

How many Black people in America know what “woke” was historically, is an interesting question.
