It costs big dough to run for Congress, a couple of million, maybe more, for the Senate, figure at least 10 million.

Money runs the political system, meaning American government is a product of a pay for play system.

Some democracies finance their elections with public funds, the USA uses the best government money can buy system, and the people who fund the political class in America get what they paid for.

The American government reflects the values of the people who finance the political system. Who rules America, the people who finance the elections, for state offices, Congress, the Senate.

The political classes spend a lot of their time and energy on fundraising, that plutocracy.
