Trump had his allies in Congress kill a Border bill that would have funded hiring the people required to process the paperwork required to deal with the huddled masses at the border. Trump and his people wanted the Border crisis as an issue to run on, so they killed a bipartisan Border bill.

There are 330 million people in the country. Deporting 10 million or so people, Trump’s plan to deport the undocumented, is likely to create economic and social chaos, and require more resources than dealing with the asylum seekers humanely. Processing Asylum claims in months rather than years, hiring enough people to handle the issues, this is not rocket science.

The US foreign policy of “regime change” through embargoes is not working. There’s been a Cuban embargo since 1959. Venezuela’s been embargoed since the Chavez regime. The embargoes create the conditions that force people to leave for the US.

Enforce employment laws. E verify works if enforced on employers. Give the undocumented permission to work, by documenting them. Hire the people to process the paperwork.

The Border crisis is a symptom of a Congress divided against itself, which is the real issue, the disfunction in Congress, and the country’s ongoing civil crisis.
