THE FIRST PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION
was for George Washington, April 30, 1789. President Washington’s inauguration ceremony was in New York City, a grand, historical event, attended by hundreds, George standing on the balcony of the Federal Hall on Wall Street, took the oath of office, as the first President of the United States of America. It was grey and overcast in the morning, which later gave way to clear skies, the noon temperature was 59F, 15C.
The ceremony was performed to loud cheers. George had once been chased out of New York by the Brits, he and his Continental Army fled. He was sure to have remembered that, on that balcony in New York City, the first President of a United States of America, in 1789.
The incoming President blames the largest State contributor to the Federal tax base, California, for the fires that have ravaged Southern California. The nation faces an existential crisis today, its partisan politics.
