The Defense Dept Boondoggle

Wake up time, good old USA. You are bankrupt, people are protesting police brutality in the streets, it’s the only developed country without a universal health system, has the most Covid cases and the most deaths in the world, maybe because of the nature of the for profit health care system, and you want to throw 740 billion at being the world’s police in this year’s budget, pursuing the interests of corporate America, world hegemony and dominion.

How’s being the world’s police working out, you’ve militarized the domestic police. Look at them on the streets. That sure looks like a bad way to run a democracy, a republic, that has a tough time being representative. It’s good Trump won’t support a military budget if it changes the names of all the Confederate forts in the South, pork for the Southern states, they vote military first, their slice of the boondoggle.
In the face of the present crises, economic and pandemic, it might make sense to give up “rugged individualism” for the people, and “corporate welfare” for the ruling class. The reason for the civil crisis, inequality in a pandemic, no social safety net, no universal health plan, systematic racism. Using the militarized domestic police to dominate the streets, a “law and order” backlash may be on the front burner of the current administration, their best shot at re election.
