The Confederate Forts Paradox

The US Army forts in the South named after people, mostly generals I assume, who fought against the US, and the US army. You’ve got American forts named after notable Confederates. The paradox, think of another country that’s done that.

How is it possible that US Army installations are named after its enemies and it’s no big deal, who’s surprised. That nobody is surprised tells the tale.

Fort Louis Armstrong in Louisiana, I can dig it. In this matter, I have to agree with those who speak of American exceptionalism, this is an example. Let’s put our brains around that one. Think of another country that’s been exceptional in this way. I dare you.
