THE ADVERTISING

The people who pay for the advertising, they do it because it works. One of Trump’s tricks is the repeat, repeat, and repeat it again, and the message is delivered, the subliminal message.

In prison, I used to clue my students in to how their realities were similar to Plato’s allegory of the cave, where all information was second hand, hearsay, or the media they saw.

The people who pay for the advertising define an alternate reality. Do not believe the advertising.

Watch any bit of advertising. Freud’s nephew Edward Bernays figured out that the product message could best be sent through advertising. He got American socialites in the 1920s to smoke cigarettes,and make it cool. These people are selling distractions, advertisers, their product, their service, their diversion, exactly that.

They do rule with the advertising. Realize that. Watch some ads, some pitches, it is an amusing look at ourselves, the advertising. Do not believe the advertising, enjoy it for what it is.
