POLITICAL PRISONERS

Held because of the power of particular regimes over their citizens, is an evil that is universal, dissent locked up because it can be. The US government has historically suppressed protest movements, and American Indians have been subject to the oppression of a colonial mentality since 1776. The Espionage Act of 1917, still on the books, convicted Eugene V Debs, who ran for President in 1920, from prison, convicted of sedition, opposition to WW1, he ran as a Socialist.

Tell me the difference between locking up Navalny in Russia on bogus charges, and locking up Julian Assange, an on line publisher, on bogus charges? The things these people do to the people they lock up are unconscionable. Remember Guantanamo? Are their still prisoners there who have never been tried?

The rulers play fast and loose with the truth. They all play the same ruthless games for their reasons of state, and their power corrupts them absolutely.
