mad kings or my imagination
I’ve been wrong before, I’m no stranger to a slamming door, so here goes, how is it possible for two supposed democracies, the US and Brazil, to have mad kings?
Trump’s going to Tulsa on Juneteenth, emancipation day for Blacks, they celebrate the day anyway, which is ironic. Trump likes the Confederate generals names on US forts in the South, rings with his base, so he will be rallying in Tulsa, where there was a race riot 99 years ago, wiped out a prosperous Black community, called the “Black Wall Street”.
Bolsonaro, says it’s like the flu , holds rallies, never stopped, indigenous people, the poor, Black people, Brazil didn’t end slavery until 1888, they had a king named Pedro, most at risk with this virus, the Amazon, big cities, reeling with virus cases.
Two elected mad kings in mad times, having rallies in the middle of a pandemic while the death tolls mount in their countries. This is not sublime, this is surreal, ignoring a pandemic which is relentless, and is thriving in spite of these mad kings’ rhetoric.
