Who remembers the man, a Sioux Indian, busted in a raid at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation more than 50 years ago? Two FBI agents were killed, he was convicted for murder, and Peltier became a symbol of Sioux and Native American resistance to a conquering culture, the thieves of paradise, their American conquerers.

The Man’s been in jail for fifty years for a crime he says he did not commit. He’s 80, and in failing health.

Biden can give this man clemency. There are those who feel Peltier was railroaded and his conviction was political rather than a search for justice, just like the Americans Biden says have been politically convicted by Vladimir Putin.

Free Leonard Peltier because it would be a compassionate thing to do, Joe, you have that power, use it. It’s more than about time.
