HYPOCRISY ON STEROIDS

It’s a typo, meant AUTOCRACY, typed HYPOCRISY, which simply means saying one thing and doing another. Trump’s threat to ignore the courts reminds me of the idea that Andrew Jackson had about a dead John Marshall, and the concept of judicial review based on Marbury vs Madison.

In 1828, Jackson, the President, dared the Supreme Court to enforce native American property rights, and the law came up empty for these indigenous people, westward bound, on what they called a trail of tears.

After all these years, America, of selling the world the rule of law, and democracy, and democratic values, America has come down to Trump, his minions, and hypocrisy on steroids, the rule of law, now in the back seat, or out of the car entirely, the chief executive behind the wheel.

The balance of power, the nation’s social contract, the checks and balances, in peril on a Thursday, cold here in the land between two Reservation casinos, on the Canadian border. Enjoy the day. “It is what it is,” to quote the new President.
