General Mattis and Fallujah
The Iraq war was based on lies. Fallujah, known as “ the city of mosques”, two battles, first over Blackwater, April, second , 7 Nov. to 23, December, 2004, the town was leveled, 90% of residents fled and 200,000 became internally displaced, 1500 insurgents captured, casualties figures, dead, complicated by a lack of official figures.
It was the first real battle with insurgent forces, not Saddam’s army. The city is still in ruins. Mattis led the Marines, that’s where he got the nickname, “mad dog”.
This is our legacy, that this is yesterday’s news here, not in Fallujah.
