BLOWING SMOKE,
a term the inmates used in prison that I remember, it may fit what’s up with the Justice Department and Trump. The Biden administration, Merrick Garland, the Judge who is unsealing the warrant, who has received death threats, are afraid of Donald Trump and his people, who are on the attack, threatening the FBI, its agents.
A deal being cut behind the scenes may be being obscured by the smoke that the government is blowing, “no one is above the law”.
The State secrets case, the Espionage Act of 1917, is a slam dunk, but Justice is not blind, Trump is special. The Biden administration is afraid of Trump and Trump nation, and the Republican insurrectionists in Congress. The Gov may never get around to charging Trump, they may blow smoke throughout the entire crisis, and Trump walks in the end.
It is illustrative, the phrase, blowing smoke.
