America’s fear of socialism.

That fear was featured in this year’s election, cost the progressives some seats. The Red Scare card was played. Communism is the government controls the means of production, that’s why China calls itself a communist country. Socialism is community control of the means of production. These are concepts, not realities.

China has billionaires, a growing middle class, the government, the communist party, and the billionaires, control the means of production. Is there a place where the community controls the means of production? Does the community control the means anywhere? Cuba, Venezuela, the ruling parties, oligarchies, control the means of production.

America’s fear of socialism is a fear if a myth. There is no aspect of the means of production that is controlled by the government in the US, but the military industrial complex, that’s government control, not community control.

Most of the fears of socialism, like universal health care, a minimum wage, a living wage, are social norms that have nothing to do with government control of the means of production. The American government pursued the socialism myth as an instrument of control, and gave the rubes something to fear that doesn’t exist as anything but an economic concept.

The US, the means of production are controlled by Wall Street, the big banks, capital, international and domestic, these fund the political parties which control the government. Is this socialism? No, the community doesn’t control the means of production, rich people do. That’s the system. It fears the socialism of universal health care, a living wage, and loves the socialism of the military industrial complex.
