AMERICAN GUN MADNESS

It is all about “freedom” as an abstract idea, the gun, a symbol of individual freedom, autonomy for people believing in this kind of magical thinking. They are safe, these people believe, because they have a gun.

Actually, they are safe to mass at state houses with their assault rifles, but Waco and Ruby Ridge is how the government deals with insurrection, actually.

Some Iraqi came over here, and this week, talked about assassinating George Bush, for his war of choice based on lies. How many people did the US military machine kill in Fallujah? The Iraq war , that catastrophe for that society, untold death, and nobody remembers that any more?

One political party has convinced its voters that they are “free,” autonomous creatures, because they have guns. This is magical thinking. You mess with a unit that has a 900 billion dollar budget yearly, the American war machine, only in your dreams.

Liberty and justice for all, as principals, a civil society, not the Republican party and the gun lobby, the Constitution, holding that all are created equal, our rule of law, flawed as it has been, that is the actual legacy of freedom you inherited.

Craven political opportunists, self serving individuals, see political power in blocking sensible gun laws, they are complicit in this horror, the mass murders.
