A SAD FACT

It is harder than hard,

harder than that,

to make sense of it all,

if you’ve lost your humanity,

your sense of humor,

your appreciation for

the magic of your

being in the world,

that shot in the dark

that became you, a miracle

in fact, consciousness,

a sad fact if you can’t embrace

kindness, compassion, goodwill,

and make this finite world

a more difficult place,

a meaner, harder place,

a sad fact for the rest of us

here today on this planet,

this miracle, Earth.
