A Republic, if you can keep it

Nice phrase, Ben, about sizes up today. To maintain that republic every vote has to count? Every vote, that’s the plan for 2020? No? The regime in power seems to disagree.

It is remarkable to consider an election where participants in the political class, the states, the political parties, disenfranchise people, and have no issue with such behavior.

The US has arrived at quite a community moment, a republic if you can keep it, and how do you do that, by holding free and fair elections. The regime in power has taken control of the narrative, citing the perils of voter fraud by mail, while at the same time crippling the Postal Service which will process the mail.

The other narrative, violence in cities, isn’t exclusive to one party, but the regime in power controls the narrative. Violence is up in the world, the economic and social dislocation of the pandemic, which has come home to roost worse in the USA than any developed country, more cases, more death, more social unrest.

You can’t hold free and fair elections, you’re a banana republic. Your President of “law and order” is trying to rig an election.
