A profoundly unequal society
The looting is a symbol of a profoundly unequal society, during a pandemic, the groups with the most vulnerable to the virus out in mobs in the streets, looting stores, an underclass of have nots during a pandemic, 40 million now uninsured in this nation, 140 million poor in the nation, the marginalized, and the damned, says a lot about the society, such a lack of social cohesion that it’s everyone for themselves, for the left behind. No bail out for them.
Systemic police brutality, George Floyd’s murder, social unrest among the masses, protests began, met by indifference. There were groups of diabolical opportunists, white nationalists who used the opportunity to burn down their enemies neighborhoods, a federal government bent on blaming left wing radicals, but what is America’s burden is a profoundly unequal society during a pandemic.
The police brutality, the thin blue line of police solidarity are America’s history. Right wing politicians will play the race card, are playing the race card. Anybody with any sense plays the profoundly unequal society during a pandemic card, endemic poverty, a society that has controlled it’s underclass with brutality and suppression since 1776, when freedom rang, not for the slaves, not for the Native Americans.
