A CONCEPT LARGER THAN OURSELVES
It’s an is this a functioning democracy election. It’s a do the ends justify the means election. My Uncle Emile told me when I was maybe five, I had asked him who the government worked for, and he said, “They all work for the same people or they wouldn’t be there.”
It is not every day that Americans choose seditionists, insurrectionists, coup plotters. It’s about the representative democracy, this election, election denial and the threats to the election processes, the present two party system.
Led by a Republican party that is under the spell of Trump and his rants, brazen calls to arms, “You don’t fight, you’re not going to have a country any more!” Trump nation is a cult. These people believe that their leader can do no wrong, agree with the people who stormed the Capitol, this is a big deal.
It is an election featuring voter suppression, gerrymandering, the vast sums required to run, the two party system, the value of votes, whose votes count. It is an election about elections, about a concept greater than ourselves.
