A CEASEFIRE FOR THE PROXY WAR
The Hiroshima meeting, at that once obliterated city on August 6, 1945, of World government representatives includes China, but not Russia, it is no longer the G8, it’s the G7, fits this moment in World history.
The war in Iraq was a cabal’s war, not a proxy war like Korea and Viet Nam. The Ukraine catastrophe, for the dead, the maimed and injured, the flattened cities, the millions dislocated, is a contrast to the jingoism of the proxy war beneficiaries, the arms sales people on both sides of the conflict, and the war hawks.
Calling Putin a war criminal means no negotiations. The Iraq war, based on misrepresentations and outright lies, locked up Chelsea Manning and Julian Assange, while Bush walked, Cheney walked, Colin Powell told fabrications about weapons of mass destruction, and walked.
Ending the human catastrophe in Ukraine requires negotiations with Putin, and negotiations with Putin are off the table as long as he’s called a war criminal.
The Iraq War destroyed Iraq. “Shock and awe” was exactly that. The people of Iraq, and the people of the city of Fallujah, called what happened there war crimes, and those responsible for the destruction of their city and their nation war criminals.
War isn’t hell for people profiting from it. Ending the Ukraine proxy war requires negotions between the principals, and they know who they are.
